The College Students Scholarships overall objective of this project is to develop and validate a method for objective assessment of pain related to a number of common diseases in cattle and horses. This methodology is a combination of ethological and clinical methods for the quantification of pain, including mechanical nociceptive threshold testing. Postdoctoral Fellowships College Students Scholarships

The College Students Scholarships position is in the group of Professor Anders Krogh. The group is working on computational analysis of post-transcriptional regulation (focused on small RNA), ancient genomics, and metagenomics. Common to all projects is the analysis of high-throughput sequencing data, mostly from Illumina sequencer. We are doing both software development and analysis of experimental data. There College Students Scholarships is recent evidence that the response to treatment is strongly influenced by intrinsic host factors. To identify genetic variants that predict disease outcome, we have genotyped genetic variants in candidate genes involved in cellular processes associated with tamoxifen action in breast cancer patients with and without tamoxifen monotherapy.

Knowledge:

College Students Scholarships Adjusted statistical methods to identify genetic predictors of response to therapy with tamoxifen will be developed in this project in collaboration with PD Dr. Justo Lorenzo Bermejo, Institute of Medical biometry and Informatics, University Hospital Heidelberg. methodological improvements will focus on robustification standard methods for statistical analysis of genetic data, imputation for example, some strong based on public data warehouses and strong survival analysis.
